Stormcaller, Voice of the Rift-Storm

Deity Tier — Tempest of the Eastern Sea

“Light your beacon, little harbor.I have been waiting for it to go out.”

Origin

The Stormcaller is the will inside the rift-storms. It lives behind the Stormwall, the permanent wall of cloud off Stormwall Point, and every storm that crosses the eastern sea is one of its breaths. Ironstar Harbor was built where it was because the cliffs could hold a beacon high enough to answer it. For as long as the Ironstar Beacon burns, the Stormcaller stays behind the wall. When the Beacon falters, it steps through.

Rift-Storm

Wherever the Stormcaller crosses the Stormwall, the coast drowns in its weather:

  • Lightning strikes metal first — armour, weapons, docks
  • Wind changes direction every minute
  • The sea rises over the harbor walls
  • Flying and climbing become dangerous
  • Squall Wraiths ride every gust
While the Ironstar Beacon burns at full strength, the storm cannot cross the cliffs.

Nightmare Abilities

Rift-LightningAction

Lightning strikes up to six targets, chaining to anyone wearing metal within 15 ft. 8d10 lightning each (DC 27 Dexterity halves).

Gale WallAction

A wall of wind sweeps the headland. Anyone not braced behind cover makes a DC 26 Strength save or is blown toward the cliff edge.

Drowning RainPassive

Rain falls so hard it fills the air. Ranged attacks have disadvantage and fire effects fail.

Eye of the StormAction, Recharge 5–6

Sudden calm: the Stormcaller draws all wind inward, then releases it as a thunderclap (10d10 thunder in 60 ft.).

Snuff the BeaconLegendary Action

Hurls a bolt at the Ironstar Beacon. Each hit dims it; at full dark, Beacon Bound ends.

Call the HeraldsLegendary Action

Summons a Gale Roc or 1d4 Squall Wraiths out of the clouds.

Phases of Stormcaller

I. Gathering Clouds

HP: 100%–75%

The Stormwall bulges; the Stormcaller reaches through.

  • Keep the Beacon lit — feed it Denseki.
  • Lightning rods on the headland can be raised.

II. The Stormwall Breaks

HP: 74%–45%

It steps onto the headland in full.

  • Gale Wall every round; brace or fall.
  • Squall Wraiths target metal armour.

III. Eye of the Storm

HP: 44%–20%

Sudden, eerie calm — and the raid can fly.

  • Updrafts lift players to the floating storm-stones.
  • Strike its core while the eye holds.

IV. Beacon Failing

HP: 19%–1%

It turns everything on the Beacon.

  • Split the raid: defend the Beacon, finish the storm.
  • If the Beacon goes dark, the sea rises over the harbor.

V. Clearing Skies

HP: — (Driven behind the Stormwall)

It cannot die — but it can be pushed back.

  • Beacon held: calm seas and open routes for a season.
  • Beacon lost: every sea route closed until it is relit.

Lair Effects(Stormwall Point)

  • The headland's edges crumble into the sea between rounds.
  • Lightning rods drain Rift-Lightning if raised in time.
  • Floating storm-stones drift overhead in the eye.
  • The Ironstar Beacon is visible from the whole fight — and so is the Stormcaller's anger at it.

Potential Loot

Beacon Heart(Artifact)A core of storm-fused Denseki. Doubles the Ironstar Beacon's range — or powers one weapon like a lightning strike.
Stormcaller's Pinion(Legendary spear)A feather of living storm. Every hit chains to a second target.
Calmwater Charm(Wondrous item)Rain never falls on its bearer. Sailors would kill for one.

Forty Seasons

Modern Aetherion // Ironstar Beacon Tower, storm season

Overheard in the Beacon Tower during the worst storm in a decade.

The Stormwall's moving. It's never moved before.

Beacon-Keeper Ilka StrandKeeper of the Ironstar Beacon

Forty seasons I've kept this light. It always stays behind the wall.

Ilka, there's a face in the clouds. It's looking at the Beacon.

Then feed the Beacon. Every Denseki we have. Now.

Metal First

Modern Aetherion // Reactor docks, Ironstar Harbor

Harborward Guard orders, issued the morning after.

Captain Rourke VellHarborward Guard

New rule. Nobody stands watch in plate during a rift-storm. The lightning goes for metal first.

Steward Dace MorrowSteward of Ironstar Harbor

And the reactor docks are made of metal, Captain.

Captain Rourke VellHarborward Guard

Yes. That's why it hit them.
